2019-20 Schedule
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Big Ten Conference unveiled its 2019-20 league-wide women's basketball television selections Thursday, and the Penn State women's basketball team will be featured on national television at least three times and up to five times during the regular season.
Penn State will have three January conference games broadcast nationally on the Big Ten Network. Additionally, two late-season games have the possibility of being picked up by a television network.
BTN will carry the action when the Lady Lions take on Wisconsin on the road on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. Penn State will host Indiana in front of a nationally-televised audience on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. The Lady Lions will also appear on BTN on Sunday, Jan. 26 when Penn State travels to Purdue. The time of the game against the Boilermakers is to be determined.
Penn State's late-season contests against Michigan (Feb. 27) and Michigan State (March 1) both have the possibility of airing on a television network. The Big Ten will make those selections later in the season dependent on given postseason implications of each conference game. If the tilts against Michigan and Michigan State are not picked up, both games will be available for streaming on BTN Plus.
All remaining conference games, and select non-conference games, that are not televised on BTN or the ESPN family of networks will be carried by BTN Plus. The Big Ten Tournament Championship game will be broadcast on ESPN2, while every other tournament game is set for BTN.
Game times for remaining Penn State women's basketball games will be announced in the coming weeks.
A New Era Begins
Penn State will enter its first season under head coach Carolyn Kieger in 2019-20. Kieger, a 2019 Naismith Women's Coach of the Year Award semifinalist, guided Marquette University to the top of the Big East Conference and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances as the Golden Eagles' head coach.
Kieger, a 2006 Marquette graduate, comes to Happy Valley after five years at the helm of her alma mater, posting a 99-64 overall record. During the past three seasons, Kieger led the Golden Eagles to sparkling 76-26 mark (43-11 in Big East), which included a pair of Big East regular-season championships and a Big East Tournament Championship. Marquette made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in 20 years, advancing to the round of 32 the past two seasons.
