UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Payton Linnehan has been named B1G Freshman of the Week announced by the league on Tuesday, October 22. Linnehan scored two goals against Northwestern, including the game-winning goal in Penn State's 3-1 win over the Wildcats on Sunday.

Linnehan has appeared in all 18 games this season for the Nittany Lions, starting 14. Linnehan is tied for fourth on the team with four goals as a true freshman.
The Nittany Lions are currently on a five-game winning streak following Sunday's win over Northwestern.
Linnehan is the third Nittany Lion to bring home a weekly award presented by the Big Ten. The last to earn weekly honors was Ally Schlegel on September 10. Schlegel was named both the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week as well as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Penn State completes its regular season on Sunday, October 27 at Nebraska. The Nittany Lions are currently third in the Big Ten standings. The top four seeds host the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
