POSTGAME NOTES: Penn State vs. Indiana

TEAM

  • Penn State improves to 22-1 overall against Indiana, including a perfect 11-0 mark in Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions have won six consecutive games against the Hoosiers.
  • With the victory over Indiana, Penn State has won its last eight home games.
  • Penn State wins nine games in the regular season for the fourth consecutive year.
  • The Nittany Lions have 18 nine-win seasons since joining the Big Ten in 1993.

  • With 55 yards rushing, QB Sean Clifford now has 374 rushing yards this season, Clifford moves into fifth place in Penn State history for rushing by a quarterback in a single season. On the day he passed Richie Lucas (325, 1959), John Hufnagel (346, 1971) and Trace McSorley (365, 2016).
  • Clifford now has 371 career rushing yards, boosting him into ninth place in the career rushing yards by a quarterback list. He passed Galen Hall (316) and Pete Liske (319) vs. the Hoosiers.
  • Clifford raised his season passing yardage total to 2,450, which moved him into 13th place on Penn State's single-season list.
  • Clifford threw his 22nd touchdown pass of the season, which moves him into a tie for fifth at Penn State with Todd Blackledge.
  • Clifford had 234 yards of total offense (179 passing, 55 rushing), giving him 2,824 yards of total offense this season. This moves him into 10th place in the single-season total offense list. He moved past Zack Mills (2,618; 2002), Anthony Morelli (2,638; 2007) and Kerry Collins (2,660; 1994).
  • Clifford rushed for two touchdowns, earning his first multi-rushing touchdown game. 
  • Clifford has thrown a touchdown pass in his last seven games.
  • Clifford had his fourth career game with both a rushing and passing touchdown.
  • With 24 career passing touchdowns, Clifford is tied with Doug Strang (1981-84) for 13th all-time at Penn State.

Journey Brown

  • RB Journey Brown rushed for exactly 100 yards, posting his third career 100-yard rushing game, and second consecutive 100-yard game.
  • Brown established a career high for the second-straight week with 21 carries. He previously had 14 carries last week at Minnesota.
  • Brown's 35-yard touchdown run was his sixth rushing touchdown this season and seventh of his career.
  • Brown tied a career high with two receptions. He also had two in three previous games, most recently against Purdue.
  • On his 35-yard touchdown run, Brown went over the 500-career rushing yard mark. He now has 565 career rushing yards.

  • TE Pat Freiermuth extended his streak to 22 consecutive games with a catch, and 22 of his first 23 career games.

 
Devyn Ford

  • RB Devyn Ford had a career-high eight carries. His previous high was seven against Idaho.

  • TE Nick Bowers had a 12-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, his third of the season and fifth of his career.

Micah Parsons

  • LB Micah Parsons forced one fumble, the third forced fumble by Parsons both this season and in his career.

Tariq Castro-Fields

  • CB Tariq Castro-Fields tied a career high with eight tackles. He had eight stops on two previous occasions, the last vs. Michigan earlier this season.

 
Marquis Wilson

  • CB Marquis Wilson forced a fumble for the second time both this season and in his career. He previously forced a fumble last week at Minnesota.
  • Wilson recovered the first fumble of his career.

 
Shaka Toney

  • DE Shaka Toney had one sack for minus-5 yards, giving him 6.5 for minus-45 this season.
  • Toney had one TFL, giving him 7.5 TFL this year for minus-46 yards.

 
Yetur Gross-Matos

Jan Johnson

  • LB Jan Johnson recovered a fumble on a muffed punt in the first quarter, his second career fumble recovery.
