Daly Wins Three Events Against No. 8 Ohio State & No. 24 Virginia Tech

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's swimming & diving team fell to No.24 Virginia Tech, 205.5-145.5 and No. 8 Ohio State, 193.5-158.5 in their double-dual meet at McCoy Natatorium.
 
The team sported red, white, and blue suits to honor service members for their Military Appreciation meet. 
 
Top Swims
Michael Daly led the team with three event wins in the two-day meet. On Saturday, Daly secured the win in his first event of the day, the 500 freestyle (4:28.43) in addition to touching third in the 200 free (1:39.63). During day one, Daly won both the 400 IM (3:55.57) and 1000 freestyle (9:19.01)
 
Junior, Hayden Harlow was a stand out for the Nittany Lions on Saturday morning. Harlow placed first in the 200 IM (1:49.75) and swam a personal best time in the 500 free, earning second place with a time of 4:28.54. Harlow had another top-three finish on Friday with a third-place touch in the 400 IM (3:58.12)
 
Adding to the event winners list, William Roberson swam a NCAA B-Cut qualifying time in the 50 free with a first-place time of 19.78. Roberson had two top-three individual finishes this weekend as he had a third-place touch on Friday in the 100 free (44.59).
 
In the last individual event of the meet, Juliusz Gosieniecki secured second place in the 100 fly (48.51). On Saturday, Junior Brad Johnson had a fourth-place finish in the 100 breast (56.09) and on Friday, Senior captain Liam Veregin earned a third place finish in the 100 back (49.65)
 
William Lulek swam a personal best time of 1:50.65 in the 200 back on Saturday and placed fourth on Friday in the 400 IM (3:58.37). In addition, Zac Zwijacz and Daniel Raisanen both had fourth-place finishes on Friday, with Zwijacz in the 200 fly (1:49.75) and Raisanen in the 200 breast (2:02.88)
 
Nittany Lion Relays 
On Saturday, The Nittany Lions started out on the right note opening the meet with a win. The team of Veregin, Johnson, Gosieniecki, and Roberson won the 200 medley relay with a final time of 1:28.52. Clocking in with a time of 2:58.86, the team of Roberson, Matthew DiNunzio, Harlow, and Daly placed third in the 400 free relay, the last event of the meet.
 
On Friday, the team of Veregin, Harlow, Zwijacz and Roberson opened the meet with a second-place finish with a time of 3:16.66 in the 400 medley. To close out day one, the 200 free relay team of Roberson, DiNunzio, Veregin, and Gosieniecki tied for second with a final time of 1:21.20.

Top Dives
Bryce Hoch led Penn State divers both days, with a score of 286.50 in the 3-meter dive and 281.50 in the 1-meter dive on Friday. Sophomore, Jonah Cey followed Hoch with a score of 280.60 in the 3-meter dive.
