ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men's golf student-athlete Ryan Davis has been named the Big Ten Conference's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference office today. Davis tied his career-low tournament score with a 3-under 207 to finish in a tie for fourth and help Penn State move up into a tie for third at the Gators Invitational last weekend.
In the final round of the Gators Invitational, Davis recorded three-straight birdies, narrowly missing an eagle on No. 17, for a 2-under 68 to jump two spots in the individual rankings. He carded a 2-under 68 in the second round on Saturday which included four birdies in his first nine after a 1-over 71 in the first round.
A senior from Berkeley Heights, N.J., Davis had 13 birdies on the weekend, the second-highest total among the 84 participants.
The Nittany Lions compete next at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Monday-Tuesday, March 9-10.
