UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Six members of the Penn State men's swimming team will compete at Ohio State's Last Chance Meet Sunday in hopes of improving their chances of securing an NCAA Championships invitation. Competition will take place at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
Jacob Deckman, Hayden Harlow, and Will Roberson will all be competing in individual events, while Juliusz Gosieniecki, Austin Wilson, Gabe Castano, and Roberson will be looking to improve on their 200 free relay time.
The team last competed at the Big Ten Championships at Indiana University just last week. The 200 free relay team composed of Gosieniecki, Wilson, Castano, and Roberson broke a school record in the event after swimming an NCAA B-cut time of 1:17.38. They are only .21 seconds away from an A-cut time, which automatically qualifies them for an NCAA invite.
Along with a relay swim, Roberson will also look to improve on his career-best time in the 50 free (19.40), which earned him a fifth-place finish at Big Tens. This NCAA B-cut time ranks him third-fastest all-time at Penn State.
Last weekend at Big Tens, Harlow had an 11th-place finish in the 200 IM with a personal-best and NCAA B-cut time of 1:44.64, ranking him second-fastest in school history for the event.
Deckman will be competing in both the 100 fly and 200 fly, seeking to improve on his personal-bests. He swam his career-best in the 100 fly (48.52) last weekend, and was just under a second off his best in the 200 fly (1:48.23).
