Post-Game Notes – Iowa

TEAM
- Penn State is now 17-13 all-time against Iowa.
- The Nittany Lions moved to 7-8 at home against Iowa.
- Penn State is now 2-1 when wearing its "Generations of Greatness" uniforms.
- TE Tyler Warren became the 11th Nittany Lion and ninth true freshman to make their debut this season.
- TE Brenton Strange made his first career start, becoming the 10th Nittany Lion to make their first career start this year.
- The Nittany Lions travel to Michigan on Saturday. Kick time and network designation will be announced on Sunday.
OFFENSE
Team
- The Nittany Lions scored on a 14-play, 75-yard drive covering 6:11 in the first quarter. It was Penn State's third scoring drive of more than six minutes this season (7:01 at Indiana, 6:20 at Nebraska).
- It also marked Penn State's third scoring drive consisting of 14 or more plays this season (16 vs. Maryland, 14 at Nebraska).
- QB Will Levis rushed for 34 yards to total 309 career rushing yards. He passed Dick Hoak to move into 12th all-time by a quarterback.
Sean Clifford
- QB Sean Clifford became the first Penn State quarterback to throw for touchdowns on back-to-back passes since Trace McSorley at Illinois in 2018 (16-yard touchdown pass to Juwan Johnson; 21-yard touchdown pass to KJ Hamler in fourth quarter). In the third quarter, Clifford connected with Brenton Strange for a 28-yard score and then hit Jahan Dotson for a 68-yard score.
- With 176 yards, Clifford sits 81 passing yards away from becoming the 12th Penn State quarterback to reach 4,000 career passing yards.
- Clifford's two passing touchdowns gives him 36 in his career. He is one from moving into a tie for ninth all-time with Chuck Fusina.
- Clifford has 42 career touchdowns responsible for to move into 11th all-time alone, passing Lydell Mitchell.
Pat Freiermuth
- TE Pat Freiermuth will undergo season-ending surgery next week for an injury suffered in the Ohio State game.
- Freiermuth has caught a pass in 29-straight games dating back to the Pitt game (9/8/18), which is tied for the nation's longest streak among tight ends.
- Freiermuth's 29-straight games with a catch is a school record for consecutive games with a reception by a tight end.
Jahan Dotson
- WR Jahan Dotson has caught at least one pass in 25-straight games, dating back to Indiana game (10/20/18).
- Dotson has at least one reception of 20 or more yards in all five games this season.
- Dotson has 21 career receptions of 20 or more yards.
- Dotson's 68-yard touchdown catch is a season high, the previous being a 60-yard touchdown catch at Indiana.
- Dotson recorded his third 100-plus yard receiving game of the season and the fourth of his career.
- Dotson has 1,218 career receiving yards. He jumps six places to 24th all-time, passing Juwan Johnson, Eddie Drummond, Andrew Quarless, Geno Lewis, Pat Freiermuth and Saquon Barkley.
- Dotson had a career-high two punt returns, passing his previous high of one, which has occurred five times.
- Dotson posted a career-best 32 punt returns, topping his previous high of 30 against Maryland in 2019.
- Dotson recorded a career-high 177 all-purpose yards, besting his previous personal best of 144 yard against Ohio State earlier this year.
Parker Washington
- WR Parker Washington has caught a pass in all five games of his career.
Theo Johnson
- TE Theo Johnson recorded his first career catch in the first quarter.
- He finished with two catches for a career-high 14 yards.
Keyvone Lee
- RB Keyvone Lee scored on a 6-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. It was Lee's second career touchdown.
- Lee caught six passes for a total of 41 yards for career highs in both categories.
Caziah Holmes
- RB Caziah Holmes recorded his first two career catches in the second quarter. He totaled three catches for a career high 12 yards.
Brenton Strange
- TE Brenton Strange made his first career start, becoming the 10th Nittany Lion to make their first career start this season.
- Strange caught his second career touchdown and his first this season in the third quarter.
- The 28-yard touchdown catch was a career long for Strange. His previous longest reception was 11 yards, which has occurred twice, most recently against Maryland.
DEFENSE
Jayson Oweh
- DE Jayson Oweh has four consecutive games with a TFL.
Shaka Toney
- DE Shaka Toney forced a fumble on a strip-sack in the third quarter. It was his fourth career forced fumble.
- Toney recorded his 100th career tackle on a sack in the second quarter.
- Toney earned his seventh career game with two or more tackles for loss. He has 27.5 career tackles for loss.
- Toney notched his fifth career game with two or more sacks.
- Toney's two sacks in the game gives him 19.5 career sacks, jumping to 10th all-time at Penn State, passing the likes of Bob White, Don Graham, Yetur Gross-Matos, Jay Alford, LaVar Arrington, and Bruce Clark.
Lance Dixon
- LB Lance Dixon recorded his first career full tackle for loss in the second quarter.
Keaton Ellis
- CB Keaton Ellis made a career-high six tackles, including four solo tackles. His previous best was three on four different occasions, with the last coming at Nebraska a week ago.
- Ellis collected his first career tackle for loss in the third quarter.
Lamont Wade
- S Lamont Wade recovered a fumble in the third quarter, his third career fumble recovery.
- Wade had 10 tackles for his third career game with double-digit tackles.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Jake Pinegar
- K Jake Pinegar converted 18-straight extra points before missing one in the third quarter.
