GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Penn State men's golf team wrapped up its first round and then some at the Florida Gators Invitational Friday. In their first tournament action, the Nittany Lions shot a 5-over 285 in the first round for 19th place.
Expected weather on Sunday forced alterations to the competition schedule with 27 holes played on Friday with the remainder of round two set to begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13.
Senior Lou Olsakovsky broke even with a 70, a score that included four birdies, and was tied for 46th. Senior Lukas Clark (Holland, Pennsylvania) made two of his birdies in his final five holes of the first round for a 1-over 71. Jimmy Meyers (Wexford, Pennsylvania) also posted a 1-over 71 as both tied for 68th.
Graduate student Alec Bard (New Hartford, New York) had four birdies and made an eagle on No. 12, his final hole of the first round, finishing the morning at 3-over 73 for a tie at 98. Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, New Jersey) came into the clubhouse at 4-over 74 for a tie for 106th.
Georgia, one of 10 Southeastern Conference teams participating in this tournament, leads with 21-team field with an 11-under 269 after the first round.
