MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Penn State men's golf team rebounded after a tough first nine holes Monday at the General Hackler Championship at the Dunes & Beach Club for a 301 (13-over) total. Eight of the Nittany Lions' 10 birdies came on their final nine holes. The Nittany Lions remain in 15th place.
Graduate student Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, New Jersey) vaulted into a tie for 14th place with a 1-under 143 as he ended Monday's round with three-straight birdies for a 1-under 71. Graduate student Alec Bard (New Hartford, New York) shot even par on his final nine holes after a 3-over outing on his first nine for a 75. His 2-over 146 score after two rounds has him in a tie for 30th.
In a tie for 57th, senior Lou Olsakovsky (Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania) finished the day with a 4-over 76 and has a 150 total (6-over). Sophomore Patrick Sheehan (Doylestown, Pennsylvania) bettered his first-round score by two strokes Monday with a 79 and is 89th with a 160. Senior Lukas Clark (Holland, Pennsylvania) improved his score on his final nine holes Monday and finished with an 81 and 164 total for 90th.
NC State moved into the No. 1 spot with a 10-under team total of 278 which included 5-under 67 scores from the top individual Maximilian Steinlechner, who posted a 10-under 134, and Easton Paxton who is tied for third at 6-under 138.
