GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Nittany Lions concluded their first day of their NCAA Championship run on Thursday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
The 200 free relay team composed of Will Roberson, Gabe Castano, Jake Houck, and Zane Sutton locked in a new Penn State best, swimming 1:16.88 for 13th overall. They'll receive NCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors for their top-16 time.
Additionally, Roberson, Castano, and Houck all competed in the 50 free preliminary event.
Top Swims
Roberson led Penn State, placing 24th with a 19,48 in the 50 free preliminary event. He was followed by Castano who swam for 19.50 to achieve 26th overall. Freshman Houck finished his debut NCAA Championship securing 31st with a 19.56.
Top Dives
Sophomore Kevin Sullivan represented the Nittany Lions in the 1-meter on Thursday, scoring 251.80 for 39th overall. He will compete in the 3-meter on Friday afternoon.
Nittany Lion Relays
The 200 free relay team of Castano, Roberson, Houck, and Sutton swam for a new school record in the event after previously missing time by three-hundredths of a second at Big Tens. Their final time of 1:16.88 earned them 13th overall.
Next Up
Junior Michael Daly will compete in the 400 IM and 100 back prelims Friday morning beginning at 10 a.m. He will be joined by Roberson, who will be vying for a spot in the 100 back finals.
Sullivan will also perform in the 3-meter dive on Friday morning.
