Darkness Suspends Second Round of Kepler Intercollegiate

UPDATE: The Nittany Lions moved up to second place after completing round 2 of the Kepler Intercollegiate with a 288 team score. Graduate students Alec Bard and Ryan Davis made birdies on No. 18 to finish in a tie for sixth place (E, 142).

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Penn State men's golf team is within two strokes of the lead after the first complete round of play at the Kepler Intercollegiate Saturday. Darkness suspended the final few holes of the second round for the last three teams on the course, including Penn State. Play will restart at 7:30 a.m. Sunday and then the field will be re-paired for a final-round start time of 9 a.m.

No. 8 Illinois, Northwestern and No. 40 Kent State were tied for the top spot after posting 2-over 286 scores for the first round. Penn State's team score of 288 (4-over) slots the Nittany Lions in fourth place with nine strokes separating the top teams from the teams tied for 11th place.

Senior Lou Olsakovsky (Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania) was tied for sixth after the first round with a 2-under 69. Graduate students Alec Bard (New Hartford, New York) finished his first round with two birdies in his final three holes for a 1-over 72 and
Davis tied for 27th with a 2-over 73. Senior James McHugh (Rye, New York) is tied for 39th (3-over 74) and sophomore Patrick Sheehan (Doylestown, Pennsylvania) had a 5-over 76 to tie for 55th.
