27 Nittany Lions Qualify for NCAA East Prelims

INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships preliminary competitions.

Among the qualifiers are 27 Penn State athletes across 20 events. The East Preliminaries are scheduled for May 26-29 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas will host the West Preliminary. The qualifiers out of these two regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.

The Nittany Lions will be represented in 13 women's competitions and 7 men's competitions. Two Penn State athletes qualified in two separate events, as Kathryn Munks will compete in the women's 5,000m run and 10,000m run and Yasmin Brooks will compete in both the 100m and 400m hurdles.

In addition to the automatic regional qualifiers, Noah Swaby and Maddie Holmberg will automatically qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the decathlon and heptathlon respectively, as the top-12 ranked participants in each region have qualified to advance to the final round of competition.
