Stanford Places 15th Overall in Tightly Contested 50 Free at U.S. Olympic Trials

OMAHA, Neb. – Penn State women's swimmer Cat Stanford placed 15th overall in the 50 free at the U.S. Olympic Trials in the CHI Health Center Monday night. The rising sophomore was seventh in a tightly contested B Final race with the final times for all eight competitors within 0.34 seconds of each other.
From Oceanside, New York, Stanford's name is listed on five of Penn State's all-time top 10 times, and she tied for the third-best time in Penn State history in the 50 free (SCY). 

Stanford won her heat Monday morning (26.03) to move into Monday night's B Final. Maddie Cooke (Phoenixville, Pennsylvania), recorded a 26.11 in Monday morning's prelims.

Five more Nittany Lions will compete in Wave II of the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 13-20. Michael Daly, Hayden Harlow, Maddie Hart, Jake Houck and Will Roberson will represent Penn State in Wave II.
