Daly Represents Penn State Swimming & Diving on Academic All-District At-Large Team

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's swimmer Michael Daly added another academic honor to his resume Thursday as a member of the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic Men's At-Large Team. A junior majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology, Daly possesses a 3.75 cumulative grade-point average and makes his first appearance on the 10-member Academic All-District Team.

From Pearl River, New York, Daly's efforts in the pool and in the classroom have earned him national recognition. A two-time Collegiate Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American, he competed in three events at the U.S. Olympic Trials last month, finishing seventh in the 400 IM.

Daly claimed Penn State's first Big Ten individual title in the 400 IM earlier this year and put his name on top of the program's all-time list with a school-record time of 3:41.09. He owns three Nittany Lion program records overall and has top-three times in six individual events and an additional top-three time as a member of the 800 freestyle relay. Daly earned bids to the 2021 NCAA Championships in 100 backstroke and 400 IM, with an honorable-mention All-America performance in the 400 IM.
