Payton Linnehan's first half hat trick powered the Nittany Lions to a 4-0 win over La Salle on August 22. Linnehan netted goals in the 25th, 27th and 29th minutes as she was the first Nittany Lion since 2017 to score a hat trick. Olivia Damico also scored in the victory.
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week
Linnehan was named the inaugural Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the 2021 season.
Linnehan netted four goals and added two assists in the Nittany Lions 2-0 start to the season.
Linnehan's hat trick in the Nittany Lions 4-0 win on Sunday vs. La Salle was the first since Laura Freigang on November 10, 2017 vs. Stony Brook in the NCAA Tournament. Linnehan's hat trick was the 22nd in program history and just the fourth since 2010 for Penn State.
Linnehan was also instrumental in Penn State's 3-1 win over UMass in the season opener.
Linnehan had a hand in all three goals, scoring once and assisting on the Nittany Lions other two goals.
Linnehan is tied for the Big Ten lead with four goals and two assists and leads the league with 10 points.
This is Linnehan's first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor of her career is the most recent since Frankie Tagliaferri earned the honor on April 6, 2021.
Hofstra Breakdown
Hofstra is off to a 3-0 start to its 2021 campaign. Earlier this week, Hofstra picked up its third win with a 4-0 win over Brown.
Hofstra opened up the season with a 5-1 victory over Stony Brook before shutting out UAlbany, 2-0. Lucy Shepherd is leading Hofstra with seven points, all of which occurred against Stony Brook where she recorded three goals and one assist. Against UAlbany, freshman Georgia Brown netted her first two career goals to give Hofstra the win.
Hofstra continues to lead the CAA in each offensive category, including points per game, goals per game, and assists per game.
Parking information
Parking for all Penn State Athletics' non-football events will require a valid permit or payment of the applicable parking fee for campus lots. Fans with valid Penn State University Park parking permits will be permitted to park at non-football athletics events for free, following Transportation Services parking policies and access.
For women's soccer, fans are asked to park in stadium west parking lot. Fans without a permit are encouraged to prepay for event parking at a discounted rate of $5.50 through ParkMobile - https://psu.parkmobile.io/. Prepayment is available through 11:59 p.m. the day prior to each event. Event day parking will be $5.50 per vehicle and can be purchased on the ParkMobile app. The East Deck is also available for most events for $1 per hour.
