UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State cross country team hosted the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Friday at the Blue and White Golf Courses.
It marked the first time that Penn State hosted the event since 2009.
On a rainy day in Happy Valley, the Nittany Lions were led by sophomore Evan Dorenkamp who was the team's top finisher in the men's race, placing 16th. Dorenkamp was followed by Alex Tomasko (40th, 25:53), Eric Hamel (47th, 26:00) and Brandon Hontz (49th, 26:03) in the Nittany Lions' eighth place finish. Wisconsin claimed both the team and individual titles, with freshman Bob Liking setting the Blue and White Course men's 5.2-mile record with a time of 24:38.7.
On the women's side, Penn State was led by Madaline Ullom, who finished 28th with a time of 21:21.1. In her final home race, senior Alison Willingmyre finished 34th at 21:30.7. Penn State placed 10th as a team, with Minnesota claiming both the team and individual championships (Megan Hasz, 20:34.5).

Penn State will continue postseason competition in two weeks when the team travels to Bethlehem, Pa. for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
