UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's golf team is set for its final competition of the fall season when the Nittany Lions head south to take on a strong field at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Sunday through Tuesday.
The 54-hole event will get under way on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with teams teeing off on holes 1 and 10 at Blackthorn Club's par 72, 7,147-yard course. Monday and Tuesday's rounds will follow the same format. The strong 15-team field includes five teams that are ranked inside the top 50 of the latest Golfweek rankings. Penn State won the Bank of Tennessee title in both 2015 and 2017, while former champions Virginia Tech (2007), Coastal Carolina (2008), ETSU (2018) and Louisville (2019) are also competing in this year's tournament.
Penn State has put together a strong fall, including last week's third-place finish at the Mountaineer Invitational. Four Nittany Lions placed in the top 10, led by junior Patrick Sheehan's second-place finish.
Sheehan, Morgan Lofland, Lou Olsakovsky, James McHugh and Jimmy Meyers will comprise the lineup for Penn State at the Bank of Tennessee, while Jake Griffin will compete as an individual. Sheehan has finished in the top 10 of all four of Penn State's fall tournaments thus far, including three top-5 finishes. Lofland and Olsakovsky have been strong mainstays in the Nittany Lion lineup this fall, while Meyers will compete in his fourth fall tournament and McHugh in his second.
Live stats and results from the Mountaineer Invitational will be available on GolfStat. A recap of each day's round and results will be available on GoPSUsports.com.
