Track & Field Holds Annual Blue & White Meet

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State track & field team held its annual Blue & White Intersquad Meet on Friday and Saturday afternoons. The white team won both the men's and women's competitions. 

The meet began on Friday night at Holuba Hall for the javelin and discus throw competitions. The blue team got off to a strong start, with Madison Smith and Chris Fredericks winning the javelin throws and Tom Bojalad winning the discus throw. 

Competition moved to the Penn State Multi Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III indoor track on Saturday for the remaining indoor events. The event winners were nearly splilt on the day, with the blue team winning 11 out of 13 events, but depth carried the white team to a 67-65 win on the men's side and a 76-70 win on the men's side.

Breana Gambrell claimed three victories for the blue team, winning the long jump, triple jump and 55m dash. A highlight of the day came in the women's 500m run, where Antoinette Bradley beat Rachel Gearing by just .08 of a second.

Penn State's young talent was on display in the meet, with freshman Korbin Martino winning the 300m, Emi Erekosima winning the long jump and Allison Johnson winning the 1200m run. 

The team's split the 4x400 relays to end the meet, as the blue team's Savion Hebron, Ka'mere Day, Isaac Osifo and Korbin Martino won the men's race and the white team's Jane Madson, Jermecia Brown, Victoria Vanriele and Rachel Gearing won the women's race.
