Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Host Villanova on Senior Day

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host Villanova in their ninth meet of the season. The Nittany Lions are set to compete against the Wildcats on Friday, January 28 at 5p.m. at McCoy Natatorium in a meet sponsored by The Penn State Alumni Association. The Senior recognition ceremony will begin at 4:15 p.m. where 17 seniors will be honored.

Senior Meet Honorees
There will be a total of 17 seniors recognized in Friday's meet. 
Representing the women: Olivia Jack, Madison Ledwith, Brooke Matthias, Madison Murtagh, Nikolette Nolte, Mackenzie O'Connor, Marie Schobel, Sadie Schumann, Marget Shelly, Kate Shedian, Sierra Shurts
Representing the men: Jonah Cey, Devon Chenot, Michael Daly, William Lulek, Carlos Vasqeuz, and Logan Krabbe 
 
Men
The last time the Nittany Lions met the Wildcats was in January of 2020, and the Nittany Lions won 180-79. 
 
The Nittany Lions are coming into this meet after competing last Saturday at Virginia Tech. They fell to Virginia Tech 196.5 to 103.5. Senior Michael Daly placed second in the 100 back and in the 400 IM. Daly earned first place in the 200 back with a time of 1:43.17. Daniel Raisanen placed first in the 100 breast with a time of 53.69. Raisanen also placed first in the 200 breast with a time of 1:56.83. 
 
Women
The Nittany Lions met the Wildcats for the first time in 1980 and have competed against each other 28 times since. During their last match up, Penn State defeated Villanova 167.5-93.5.
 
The women's team enters this meet after competing last Saturday at Virginia Tech. The Nittany Lions fell to the Huskies, 213-83. Senior Liv Jack led the women with a victory in the 100 breast by over a second (1:01.77), while seniors Madison Murtagh and Marie Schobel and sophomores Mary Brinker and Morgan Rinn placed second in their individual events. 
 
Next Up
The men will prepare for the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette, Indiana at Purdue, which will begin on Wednesday February 23 and will conclude that Saturday.  
 
The women will prepare for their Big Ten Championships in Madison, Wisconsin. The meet begins at the University of Wisconsin on Wednesday February 4 and will conclude that Saturday.
