Johnson First Freshman to Claim Three Big Ten Weekly Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the third consecutive week, Penn State track & field freshman Allison Johnson has been named Big Ten Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Johnson is now the first freshman in Big Ten history to win three weekly honors in a single season, earning the award in the first three meets of her collegiate career. Her three consecutive honors tie a Big Ten record.

The freshman added yet another top national time to her resume this week, recording the fastest 800m time in the NCAA of 2:04.03 at Saturday's Sykes & Sabock Challenge. The time ranks second in Penn State history behind Danae Rivers' 2:02.94 time in 2019. Johnson now ranks first in the NCAA in both the 800m and 1000m, and 17th in the mile. She also ranks second in program history in all three events.

The Nittany Lions will head on the road this weekend for split-squad competitions at the New York Armory and in Winsten Salem, N.C.
