Men's Gymnastics Fares Well at Winter Cup

FRISCO, Texas – Three Penn State men's gymnasts wrapped up a successful weekend at the Winter Cup on Sunday, combining for six top-10 finishes in individual events.
 
Sophomore Michael Jaroh had the top finish of the weekend for the Nittany Lions, taking third on high bar with a two-day score of 27.2. He posted a 13.65 on Friday and then nearly matched it with a 13.55 on Sunday. Jaroh was seventh on both parallel bars and rings and was eighth on pommel horse.
 
Sophomore Matt Cormier's best showing came on rings where he was sixth with a two-day score of 27.100. His Friday score was 13.5 before he made a slight improvement with a 13.6 on Sunday. He added a ninth-place finish on vault.
 
Sophomore Michael Artlip's top event of the weekend was vault. He finished 15th, scoring 14.0 on Friday and 13.9 on Sunday for a two-day total of 27.9.
 
"We did a really good job tonight," Penn State head coach Randy Jepson said. "They all showed up and represented Penn State well."
 
After one month off from team competition, Penn State is back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m., when it hosts Big Ten foe Ohio State at Rec Hall. The Buckeyes are coming off wins over Army West Point and William & Mary at a home tri-meet.
