LOOKING TO PEAK AT THE RIGHT TIME
The Nittany Lions are coming off a 0-1-1 series against Syracuse last weekend, Feb. 4-5, at Pegula Ice Arena. Penn State's Tuesday showdown with the Big Red precedes a two-game series at LIU on Friday and Saturday. While not CHA contests, all three present valuable chances for the Nittany Lions to fine tune their game and gain momentum heading into postseason play.

This solo Tuesday matchup with the Big Red concludes a home-and-home series between the two programs. Cornell defeated the Nittany Lions 6-1 at Pegula Ice Arena back on Jan. 11.

LAST TIME OUT
The Nittany Lions and the Syracuse Orange played a tightly contested series at Pegula Ice Arena Feb. 4-5. Both teams tied 1-1 in the first game of teh series and Syracuse prevailed in game two in a 2-1 OT victory.

In Friday's contest, Syracuse led the game thanks to a first-period goal and held that advantage throughout much of the afternoon. But Alyssa Machado drove the net for the Nittany Lions and scored the game-tying goal with 3:26 left to send the game to overtime, where both teams deadlocked at 1-1.

On Saturday, a similar script seemed to be occurring, with Syracuse leading early in the second period into the third period, but once again, Penn State scored late, this time thanks to Rachel Weiss, to send the game to OT again. This time, though, Syracuse sprung free on a 2-on-1 rush and Sarah Marchand netted the winner to close the game 2-1 for the Orange.

Penn State outshot Syracuse 101-49 in the series.
