UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's lacrosse team hosts No. 25 Johns Hopkins for their final regular season game on Thursday, April 28 at Panzer Stadium. First draw vs. the Blue Jays is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network.

SERIES HISTORY
• Penn State leads 16-8 in the all-time series vs. JHU since their first matchup in 2002.
• The Nittany Lions won their first five meetings with the Blue Jays.
• PSU is on a three-game skid vs. JHU. The Nittany Lions fell in both regular season games in 2021 and in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal.
• The three 2021 losses snapped a five-game streak vs. JHU.

ABOUT THE NITTANY LIONS
• Penn State (6-8, 0-5 B1G) is still looking for its first conference win after falling at No. 14 Rutgers 13-18 on Saturday. 
• Three Nittany Lions scored a hat-trick in the loss: sophomores Kristin O'Neill, Gretchen Gilmore and freshman Brooke Hoss.
• Hoss' three goals were scored in the first period alone. She was tabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time this year for her efforts.
• O'Neill tied her career and season-high point total with six points on three goals and three assists.
• Gilmore's five points on three goals and two assists is a career-high for the sophomore.
• O'Neill leads the Lions with 36 goals. She has 12 multi-goal games this year. She also has a team best 48 points and 21 caused turnovers.
• Junior Kara Nealon has a team best 21 assists.
• Sophomore Kayla Abernathy has won a team best 58 draw controls.
• Freshman Ashley Bowan has started between the pipes in the last 11 games. She has a .403 save percentage. 
 
PSU STATISTICAL RANKINGS
• PSU is fourth in the nation and second in the Big Ten in fewest turnovers per game (11.2).
• PSU is 14th in the nation and second in the Big Ten in clearing percentage (.910).
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE JAYS
• JHU (9-7, 1-4 B1G) enters the contest after defeating Ohio State 17-14 on Saturday.
• The Blue Jays used a 6-1 run over the second and third quarters to secure the win vs OSU.
• The win marked the final home win for head coach Janine Tucker who is a five-time IWLCA Regional Coach of the Year and is the all-time winningest coach at JHU during her 28 years with the Blue Jays. She retires after this season.
• Grad student Shelby Harrison leads the team with 40 points on 37 goals and three assists. She also leads in the draw circle with 54 wins.
• Senior Georgia Esmond has tallied a team-best 22 assists.
• Graduate student Jeanne Kachris leads the defense with 27 caused turnovers
• Starting goalie graduate student Kathleen Garvey is 9-6 with a .445 save percentage.
 
JOHNS HOPKINS STATISTICAL RANKINGS
• JHU is ranked 16th nationally and second in the Big Ten in caused turnovers per game (9.56).
• Harrison is 15th in the nation and first in the Big Ten in free position goals per game, averaging one a contest.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
• On April 26, Hoss earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for the second time during the 2022 season.
• On March 15, O'Neill earned Big Ten Midfielder of the Week honors after combining for 10 points in wins over No. 21 James Madison and Saint Joseph's.
• On March 1, Hoss earned her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor after combining for six goals in wins at Duquesne and Cornell.
• Senior Mary Muldoon and junior Rachel Spilker were elected captains for the 2022 season.
• Head Coach Missy Doherty is in her 12th season leading the Nittany Lions. 
• Doherty notched her 200th career victory following the Lions' Feb. 23 win at Duquesne.
• The team returned 22 players while adding one graduate transfer and seven freshmen.
