2022 Big Ten Men's Golf Championship Final Results
FRENCH LICK, Ind. – Freshman Jake Griffin secured a top-10 finish and the Penn State men's golf team wrapped up the Big Ten Championships in eighth place after the third and final round at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick was completed Sunday.
The Nittany Lions shot a 19-over, 307, in Sunday's round to finish the three-day championship event at 32-over, 896. Penn State's eighth-place finish in the conference championship is its highest since finishing fourth in 2018. No. 19 Illinois won its seventh-straight Big Ten title, carding a 21-over, 885.
Griffin was Penn State's highest finisher and turned in the best finish by a freshman in the championship field, placing tied for ninth at 5-over, 221. Griffin carded a 3-over, 75, in Sunday's third and final round and collects the second top-10 finish of his collegiate career. Griffin becomes the first Nittany Lion to place in the top 10 of the Big Ten Championships since former Penn State All-American Cole Miller finished second in the 2018 championship.
Graduate student Lou Olsakovsky finished tied for 21st after shooting a 7-over, 79, Sunday and finishing at 9-over, 225.
Junior Patrick Sheehan wrapped up the event tied for 27th. Sheehan carded a 7-over, 79, in the final round and finished at 10-over, 226.
Junior Jimmy Meyers shot a 6-over, 78, in the third round to finish tied for 36th at 12-over, 228.
Sophomore James Allen carded a 3-over, 75, Sunday to move up eight spots and finish the three-day event tied for 58th at 19-over, 235.
