UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team (6-1, 1-0 B1G), ranked No. 6 in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll, returns home for the first time in a month when it hosts two Big Ten battles this weekend. The Nittany Lions of head coach Char Morett-Curtiss host Michigan State (4-2, 0-1 B1G) on Friday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. and No. 23 Ohio State (3-3, 0-1 B1G) on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 12 p.m.
Penn State is coming off two wins last weekend, including a thrilling 2-1 victory at No. 7 Michigan in its Big Ten opener on Friday. The Lions were outshot 23-3 in the game but keeper Brie Barraco lifted Penn State to victory with 10 saves, including seven in the third period alone. The next day, Mackenzie Allessie scored twice and Barraco notched her first shutout of the season as the Nittany Lions downed Cornell 3-0 in a non-conference game played at Michigan.
Sophia Gladieux leads Penn State with 19 points off eight goals and three assists while Allessie has 13 off four and five. Anna Simon has six points off a goal and four assists. Barraco has 27 saves, a .730 save percentage, a 1.44 goals against average and one shutout so far this season.
Michigan State enters the weekend with a 4-2 overall record, 0-1 in the Big Ten. The Spartans downed Bellarmine 3-1 on Sunday in their last outings, two days after dropping a tough 3-2 overtime game to Rutgers in their Big Ten opener. Michigan State features a balanced offense with four players scoring seven points in a tie for the team lead. The Nittany Lions own a 36-10 lead in the all-time series between the two schools.
Ohio State, which is at Rutgers on Friday while the Nittany Lions battle the Spartans, enters the weekend with a 3-3 overall record, 0-1 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes lost 4-2 to Maryland on Friday in their Big Ten opener then dropped a tough 1-0 game to Wake Forest on Sunday in non-conference action. Hallie Brost leads OSU with six points off three goals. Penn State has a 40-14-2 lead in the all-time series between the two teams.
Penn State travels to No. 1 Northwestern on Friday, Sept. 30, for a 4 p.m. Big Ten game in Evanston, Ill. The team then travels to Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 2, for an 11 a.m. conference battle.

BARRACO NOTCHES 10 SAVES TO LEAD LIONS TO 2-1 WIN AT #7 MICHIGAN; NAMED B1G DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior goalie Brie Barraco recorded 10 saves, including seven in a furious third period, to lead Penn State to a 2-1 victory at No. 7 Michigan on Sept. 16. Barraco's performance, and a goal and an assist from Sophia Gladieux, helped Penn State overcome a 23-3 deficit in shots during the game. Barraco was named B1G Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts.
ALLESSIE SCORES TWICE, LIONS SHUTOUT CORNELL 3-0
Mackenzie Allessie scored twice and Brie Barraco notched her first shutout of the season as the Penn State Nittany Lions beat Cornell 3-0 in Ann Arbor, a neutral site game played at Michigan. The win came less than 24 hours after Penn State beat Michigan 2-1.
ALLESSIE NOTCHES TWO GOALS TO LEAD PENN STATE TO 4-2 WIN AT NO. 24 DELAWARE
Mackenzie Allessie scored on two penalty strokes to lead Penn State to a 4-2 victory at No. 24 Delaware on Sept. 11. Allessie's goals helped Penn State close out a weekend road sweep of ranked foes (the Lions won at St. Joseph's on Friday, Sept. 9).
LIONS TAKE DOWN NO. 12 ST. JOSEPH'S
Penn State used fourth period goal from Grace Wallis to grab an important 2-1 win over No. 12 St. Joseph's on the road. The host team scored early in the game but Penn State's defense held firm after that. Carly Gannon tied the game with a first half goal, setting up Wallis' game-winner in the fourth.
GLADIEUX NETS SEVEN POINTS IN 6-2 WIN AT UALBANY
Junior Sophia Gladieux netted seven points in Penn State's 6-2 road win at UAlbany on Saturday, Sept. 3. Gladieux scored three goals off Penn State's penalty corner offense and added an assist to lead the Lions.
LIONS DROP 2-1 GAME TO NO. 9 LOUISVILLE ON LATE PENALTY STROKE
No. 9 Louisville used a penalty stroke in the final 5:00 to break a tie game and post a 2-1 win over the Nittany Lions at the FH Complex on Aug. 28. Sophia Gladieux had Penn State's lone goal in the game.
GLADIEUX SCORES IN FINAL SECONDS TO LIFT PENN STATE OVER NO. 12 VIRGINIA
Junior Sophia Gladieux scored on a fast break with just :32 left in the game to lift Penn State to a 3-2 win over No. 12 Virginia at the FH Complex in the season opener for both teams on Aug. 26. Gladieux's goal capped off a thrilling Lion win that also saw Meghan Reese and Jemma Punch find the back of the cage.
ALLESSIE, REESE AND VOS VOTED TEAM CAPTAINS
Seniors Mackenzie Allessie, Meghan Reese and Elena Vos have been voted team captains by their teammates for the 2022 season. The trio have a combined 10 years of experience (with Reese returning for a fifth campaign). Allessie had 30 points last year, her first at Penn State. Reese has played in 70 games at penn State, having started the last 54 straight. Vos has started all but one time during her storied Lion career (39 of 40 games).

PARKING PAYMENT INFORMATION
- No charge with a valid Penn State parking permit

- $5.50 through day before event, $10 day of event
- $40 season parking packages available through Thursday, Aug. 25
- Day-of-event payment also available using in-lot pay stations or the ParkMobile app (zone no. 95112)
- Fans who prepay for Stadium West or Jordan East parking through ParkMobile may also park at the Yellow H lots near the
- Shields and Wagner buildings except when they are posted as reserved for Bryce Jordan Center or Pegula Ice Arena event parking.
- On days when Field Hockey overlaps with a Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball or Men's Hockey game, ParkMobile prepayment and zone parking and pay station parking for Field Hockey will end two hours before those events, and cash only payment ($10) will be collected at the lots by attendants for those without a valid permit or prepayment. When Field Hockey games overlap with a Bryce Jordan Center concert/show, day-of-event payment may be as high as $30 for those without a permit or prepayment.

- Note: Guests must present their ParkMobile QR code to event parking staff on their mobile device, if requested. Printed permits from the ParkMobile website will also be accepted.
IMPORTANT PARKING REMINDERS
- All vehicles must be parked with the license plate facing the drive aisle located closest to the parking space so that payment can be verified by parking enforcement staff.
- A valid permit or payment is required in event parking areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Vehicles parked without a valid permit or payment may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.
