CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – A two goal game by Tessa Janecke kept the No. 11/13 Penn State Nittany Lions in the game as they drew to a 2-2 tie against No. 14/15 Boston College on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless opening period, Tessa Janecke found the back of the net while shorthanded 7:45 into the second period to put the Nittany Lions ahead 1-0.
- Five minutes later in the period Boston College answered with a goal off the stick of Alexie Guay to knot the game at 1-1.
- 17:51 into the period, Janecke scored her second goal of the game off feeds from Julie Gough and Olivia Wallin to put Penn State ahead 2-1.
- Boston College was able to even the game up at 2-2 9:51 into the third period as Abby Newhook slipped a goal past Josie Bothun to send the game into overtime.
- Neither team was able to score in overtime resulting in the 2-2 tie.
GOALTENDING
- Goalie Josie Bothun tallied 26 saves on 28 shots with one in the overtime period.
GAME NOTES AND STATS
- Tessa Janecke tallied her second multi-goal game of the season.
- The Nittany Lions shorthanded goal was the first of the season.
