Penn State and No. 13 Ohio State End in 1-1 Draw

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- Despite Liam Butts' three game scoring streak, Penn State and No. 13 Ohio State end in 1-1 draw at Jeffrey Field. The Nittany Lions move to 5-4-4 overall, 2-1-3 Big Ten.

FIRST HALF
The Nittany Lions had two early opportunities in the first half of play. Andrew Privett nailed a shot off a set piece that was blocked by the Buckeyes just outside the box and Ben Liscum added to the pressure with a strike towards the net that was saved by their keeper.

Much of the half remained even in possession until the last 10 minutes when Penn State had clear possession during the stretch.

The Nittany Lions struck first in the 44th minute. Ben Liscum sent ball through to Liam Butts in the box. Butts pushed the ball to the left, past the Ohio State keeper and placed it in the goal to take a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

SECOND HALF
Penn State came out of the half strong with two early corner kicks. Privett took the first one but could not find any of his teammates in the box. Seth Kuhn was on the second and found Van Danielson who headed it just wide of the net.

The Buckeyes continued to apply pressure and it finally paid off in the 52nd minute. Tanner Creech found the back of the net off a pass from Parker Grinstead.

Kris Shakes was a major component in keeping game tied 1-1. He took control on Ohio State's corner kicks in the second half, diving above all players to snatch the ball out of the air. Shakes made one of these massive saves during the last 10 minutes of the game when Penn State was playing down one player due to two yellow cards awarded to Matthew Henderson which resulted in a red card.

Despite consistent pressure from the Penn State offense and a strong defense to keep the score tied, the Nittany Lions couldn't convert a goal.
