ST. CHARLES, Mo. Courtney Correia's second hat trick of the season propelled No. 12 Penn State to a 7-0 shutout over Lindenwood to complete the series sweep on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Nittany Lions scoring began at 13:17 off a goal by Tessa Janecke rom a feed from Kiara Zanon to put Penn State ahead 1-0.
  • Less than 15 seconds later, Courtney Correia scored her first goal of the game off assists by Eleri MacKay and Izzy Heminger to increase Penn State's lead to 2-0.
  • A barrage of goals came in the second period as the Nittany Lions tallied four in the frame.
  • Correia scored two in the period first 2:34 into the frame followed by another one 15:18 into the period for her second hat trick of the season.
  • Tessa Janecke followed 40 seconds later for her second goal of the day coming 15:56 into the frame to give the Nittany Lions a 5-0 lead.
  • Olivia Wallin fired the final goal of the period coming 18:22 into the period off passes by Maddy Christian and Lyndie Lobdell.
  • The nail in the coffin came from Julie Gough 5:24 into the third frame to secure the 7-0 shutout.

  • Josie Bothun recorded nine saves to capture her second shutout victory of the season.
