The Nittany Lions:
Penn State enters the first meet of the 2022-23 season after their intrasquad Blue/White event in mid-September where members of the freshmen squad excelled. First-year Catherine Meisner won the 500 Free by nearly two seconds (4:55.92) while Eduardo Cisternas and Mariano Lazzerini each earned a pair of individual victories in the 500 (4:28.88) and 200 Free (1:40.04) and the 100 Fly (48.53) and 100 Breast (54.54).
Eight returning record-holders also accompany the Nittany Lions to Annapolis: seniors Abbie Amdor, Lachlan Byrne, Emma Harvey, Daniel Raisanen and Zane Sutton join junior Jake Houck, sophomore Victor Baganha and graduate student Olivia Jack on the road this weekend.
The Midshipmen:
Both Navy teams won the Patriot League championships last season. The men, after posting a 7-2 dual meet record, earned their 18th title and the women, with a 6-1 split, their 10th in a row.
At last year's opener, the Nittany Lions bested the Midshipmen. The women's team swept four events on their way to a 209-91 victory while the men captured 10 individual wins to post a 181-119 final.
The Eagles:
Boston College's men and women placed 11th and 12th at the 2022 ACC Championships.
This marks the first Penn State-Boston College matchup.
