Women's Ice Hockey Welcomes Two on National Signing Day

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's ice hockey program welcomed Stella Retrum and Karolina Hengelmüller to the 2022 recruiting class on National Signing Day.
 
 

 

Karolina Hengelmüller | Defense | Lengenfeld, Austria
 
Hengelmüller comes to Penn State from Austria where she played for Lower Austrian International. She was a member of the Austrian National team from 2019-2022 and was captain of the Austrian U18 team for the 2021-22 season. She was named the best defenseman for the World Championships in 2020 and 2022. She tallied the most goals, assists, and points by a defenseman during the 2022 World Championships.

"Karolina is a smooth skating D who makes good decisions with the puck.  She has gained great experience competing for Team Austria in International tournaments and playing with and against older players.  We expect Karolina to be college ready, utilize her skill set, and be an effective member of the Nittany Lion D-Train!"


 
Stella Retrum | Forward | Maple Grove, Minn.
 
Retrun comes to Happy Valley from Minnesota where she skated at Maple Grove Senior High School. She was a two-time captain and helped lead her team to a 2018 Minnesota State Championship as well as to three total state championship appearances and three sectional titles.
