UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The #12/12 Penn State women's ice hockey team fired three goals to secure a 3-0 shutout victory over Brown on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Nittany Lions jumped out on the scoreboard first off a goal in front of the net by Olivia Wallin with 5:16 remaining in the first period.
- Penn State added to their lead in the second period as Alyssa Machado tallied her fourth goal of the season off feeds by Mya Vaslet and Karley Garcia with 17:32 remaining in the period to put the Nittany Lions ahead 2-0.
- In the closing minutes of the period, Tessa Janecke would find the open hole with 1:28 left to secure the 3-0 victory.
GOALTENDING
- Goalie Josie Bothun registered her third shutout of the year recording 17 saves on the day.
GAME NOTES AND STATS
- Olivia Wallin tallied her fourth goal of the season.
- Tessa Janecke recorded her ninth goal in 10 games.
- Alyssa Machado scored her first goal since Oct. 28.
- The Nittany Lions dominated the faceoff circle with 33 wins while Brown tallied 11.
