UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State swimming & diving kick-starts a new semester and year of competition against Army at McCoy Natatorium. After a successful mid-season championship meet at the N.C. State Invitational and a training trip to Florida, the women and men's teams gear up for the Big Ten Championships with three-straight home meets beginning with the Black Knights.
Competition begins Friday, January 13, at 4 p.m. Friends, family and fans can follow with a live stream on B1G+ and live results through the Meet Mobile app.
The Nittany Lions:
So far this season six Nittany Lions have added their names to Penn State's all-time top times and scores books.
All three women's diving records were broken. Graduate student Daphne Wils claimed the 1 and 3-Meter accolades with scores of 312.60 and 356.10 against West Virginia, while senior captain Wei Wei inked her name atop the platform dive's list with 240.80 points against Brown and Bowling Green.
Standout freshmen Marriano Lazzerini, Eduardo Cisternas and Catherine Meisner raced to top-10 times in the breaststroke and freestyle events. Lazzerini ranks second in both the 100 and 200 Breast with times of 52.73 and 1:54.38. Distance freestyler Cisternas swam to a 15:16.25 1650 and a 4:22.19 500, placing him fifth and eighth. And in the 200 Free, with a time of 1:47.09 Meisner is seventh.
