SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The 10th-ranked Penn State women's ice hockey team dominated game one of the series against Syracuse by a score of 7-0 on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 9:11 into the opening frame, Olivia Wallin flipped the puck into the top of the net on the power-play to put the Nittany Lions ahead 1-0.
- Five minutes later, Maeve Connolly found the back of the net off feeds by Lyndie Lobdell and Katelyn Roberts to give Penn State a 2-0 lead.
- Penn State began the second period on high note as Courtney Correia found the open net 3:38 into the frame to put the Nittany Lions ahead 3-0.
- Less than two minutes later, Mya Vaslet scored the fourth goal of the game off feeds by Eleri MacKay and Courtney Correia to put the Nittany Lions ahead 4-0.
- Penn State scored three more unanswered goals in the period off the sticks of Olivia Wallin, Kiara Zanon, and Alyssa Machado to secure the 7-0 victory.
GOALTENDING
- Josie Bothun picked up her fifth shutout victory of the season as she stopped 19 shots attempted by Syracuse.
