PALM COAST, Fla. – The Penn State men's golf team put together a strong showing on the final day of Big Ten Match Play, earning a 2.5-2.5 tiebreak win over Maryland before defeating Nebraska 4-1 at the Hammock Beach Ocean Course in Palm Coast, Fla.

The seventh-seeded Nittany Lions battled back in the final hole of their morning match against ninth-seeded Maryland to finish with 2.5-2.5 tiebreak win over the Terrapins. Jake Griffin needed only 15 holes to defeat Maryland's Will Celiberti 4&3 in Saturday morning's match to start the Nittany Lions off strong against the Terps. Jud Langille won a 4&2 decision against Constantini Mons to secure Penn State's second point. The Terrapins earned a pair of tight 1-up battles against James Allen and Morgan Lofland. Patrick Sheehan trailed by one stroke heading into his final hole against Maryland's Ronnie Kim, but picked up that stroke on the final hole to finish in a tie and put the final match score at 2.5-2.5. Penn State held an 8-2 advantage in holes won to secure the tiebreak and take the win over Maryland.

Penn State then carried its momentum into a match against fourth-seeded Nebraska, defeating the Cornhuskers 4-1 in the weekend finale. The Nittany Lions won three individual matches and collected two ties against the Huskers. Sheehan defeated Evan McDermott 4&3, Allen took down Quinn Yost 4&2 and Jimmy Meyers defeated Reed Malleck 2-up.
