UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Junior Gretchen Gilmore is named IL/IWLCA Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week as announced by Inside Lacrosse/IWLCA and the Big Ten on Tuesday, March 21. These are the first national honors for Gilmore this season and the first for Penn State women's lacrosse.
Gilmore had a major offensive performance in both of Penn State's victories last week including a 13-12 win against Towson on Tuesday and a 16-14 result at No. 14 Princeton on Saturday. The junior scored her first hat trick of the season against Towson and continued her scoring streak against the Tigers on Saturday with a double hat trick. Her six goals on nine shots is a career high for Gilmore. The Glen Ridge, N.J. native also picked up a ground ball in each game last week and posted two caused turnovers and won two draw controls in Saturday's win.
Gilmore's final two goals of the day on Saturday in the 16-14 win against the Tigers, proved to be the game-winners in the final four minutes of the game.
