Colleton River Collegiate Final Results
BLUFFTON, S.C. – Junior James Allen and freshman Billy Pabst Jr. secured top-15 placements to lead the Penn State men's golf team to a strong finish at the Colleton River Collegiate Tuesday.
The Nittany Lions finished fifth in the strong 12-team field at the Colleton River Club's Nicklaus Course. Penn State carded a 2-under, 286, in Tuesday's final round to finish the 54-hole tournament at 24-under, 840.
Allen collected his first top-10 finish of the season to lead the way for the Nittany Lions, placing tied for eighth at 8-under, 208. He carded an even 72 in Tuesday's final round.
Pabst Jr. earned the first top-15 placement of his collegiate career, finishing tied for 13th at 7-under, 209. He shot the Nittany Lions' best round Tuesday, a 4-under, 68, to move up 22 spots on the final day of competition.
Sophomore Jake Griffin carded an even 72 Tuesday to finish tied for 30th at 4-under, 212. Senior Jimmy Meyers shot a 2-over, 74, in the final round to finish at 3-under, 213, and in a tie for 34th place. Classmate Patrick Sheehan placed tied for 59th at 4-over, 220. Freshman Jack Zubkus, playing as an individual, finished 67th at 7-over, 223.
The Nittany Lions are set for two more competitions this week, both in Sea Island, S.C. Penn State will participate in the Sea Island Shootout on Saturday before competing in The Johnnie-O at Sea Island Monday and Tuesday.
