BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Penn State men's tennis team (15-12, 2-8 B1G) dropped a hard fought 4-3 match to the Indiana Hoosiers (13-14, 2-8 B1G) in the first round of the B1G Tournament on Friday afternoon hosted by Indiana University.
DOUBLES
Indiana secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two.
Sam Bossem and Loren Byers fell to Patrick Fletchall and Ilya Tiraspolsky 6-2, before Indiana's Sam Landau and Jagger Saylor clinched the doubles point in a 6-4 contest over Miko Eala and Stefan Simeunovic.
Charl Morgan and Pranav Nemani went 5-6, unfinished across from Luka Vukovic and Ekansh Kumar on court three.
SINGLES
Despite collecting three singles wins, the Nittany Lions were unable to complete the comeback. The Hoosiers earned victories on courts two, three, and six to advance to the second round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Clinching court four, Byers defeated Fletchall 6-2, 7-6(4) to grab Penn State's first singles point. Bossem followed up with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 decision over Tiraspolsky, before Simeunovic earned his first postseason win against Saylor 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Indiana tied the match at three as Charl Morgan fell to Sam Landau 2-6, 7-5, 7-6(3) and clinched on court two as Vukovic defeated Eala, 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-3.
