UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball Head Coach Clarisa Crowell announced the program's 2023 fall ball schedule on Friday afternoon, with seven contests slated to take place on Beard Field at Nittany Lion Softball Park.
"Our team is coming off a successful spring season, and I am excited to announce our 2023 fall schedule," Crowell said. "We will play seven games at home on Beard Field, and we will wrap up our season in Williamsport. Having graduated 10 seniors from last year's team, this fall will provide our fans a great opportunity to see our returners and eight newcomers in action. Our staff is very excited about this year's group, and we are looking forward to competing this fall."
The Nittany Lions return to the field for the first time since the 2023 Big Ten Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 16, with a home round robin scheduled at Beard Field. PSU takes on Fordham at 11 a.m., with a neutral site contest between the Rams and Saint Francis to follow at 1:30 p.m. Penn State closes the afternoon out with a 4 p.m. start against Saint Francis.
The Blue & White remain at home two weeks later on Saturday, Sept. 30, with another home round robin against Bucknell and St. Bonaventure. PSU challenges the Bison in a rematch of last year's regular season meeting at 11 a.m., following that with a 4 p.m. start against the Bonnies. Bucknell and St. Bonaventure will meet at 1:30 p.m. between the Nittany Lions' pair of contests.
From there, Penn State turns its attention to three straight weeks of 10-inning midweek contests, starting with an Oct. 4 matchup against the NCAA Division II challenger East Stroudsburg Warriors at 5:30 p.m. The Nittany Lions continue work against the Lock Haven Bald Eagles on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. before closing out the home portion of the fall campaign on Wednesday, Oct. 18 with a test against the Seton Hill Griffins, also slated for 6 p.m. on Beard Field.
Penn State's final competition of the 2023 fall campaign will feature the Blue & White pitted against the Army Black Knights. For the second year in a row, PSU will play its final fall ball game in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, at Little League World Headquarters. Penn State's fall finale is slated for Saturday, Oct. 21, with first pitch time to be announced at a later date.
