ITHACA, N.Y.- The No. 13/11 Penn State women's ice hockey team dropped the series opener at No. 10 Cornell 4-1 on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cornell opened the first period with two goals coming off the stick of Katie Chan 5:09 and 12:14 into the frame to put the Big Red ahead 2-0.
- In the closing minutes of the period, Katelyn Roberts found the clear lane to score her first goal of the season to cut the Cornell lead to 2-1 after the first period.
- Cornell added two power-play goals in the second period 8:36 and 17:00 into the period to give the Big Red the 4-1 victory.
GOALTENDERS
- Senior goalie Josie Bothun recorded 20 saves and allowed four goals to move her record to 1-5-1 on the year.
STATS AND NOTES
- Karolina Hengelmüller captured her first collegiate point with an assist.
- Katelyn Roberts scored her fourth career goal as a Nittany Lion.
- Lyndie Lobdell played in her 99th career game.
