ITHACA, N.Y.- The No. 13/11 Penn State women's ice hockey team fell 5-2 in the final game of the series at No. 10 Cornell on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cornell opened the first period with a power-play goal coming off the stick of Mckenna Van Gelder 7:10 into the frame to put the Big Red ahead 1-0.
- 11 minutes later, Lyndie Lobdell would even the score at 1-1 with a power-play goal 18:33 into the period off feeds from Maddy Christian and Alva Johnsson.
- Cornell scored first in the second period off a goal by Lily Delianedis 3:58 into the frame to take a 2-1 lead.
- Penn State responded as Katelyn Roberts would score her second goal of the series off a feed by Leah Stecker 6:30 into the frame to even the score at 2-2.
- 13:59 into the period, Cornell would take the lead off a goal by Claudia Yu to give the Big Red a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.
- Cornell tacked on two goals in the third period coming off the sticks of Georgia Schiff and Izzy Daniel 11:06 and 18:15 into the frame to walk away with the 5-2 victory.
GOALTENDERS
- Senior goalie Josie Bothun recorded 27 saves and allowed five goals to move her record to 1-6-1 on the year.
STATS AND NOTES
- Katelyn Roberts scored her second goal of the series.
- Alva Johnsson tallied her first point as a Nittany Lion.
- Lyndie Lobdell played in her 100th career game.
