Women's Ice Hockey Travels to Dartmouth for Non-Conference Series

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's ice hockey team goes back on the road after Thanksgiving for a non-conference series at Dartmouth beginning Friday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m.

HISTORY

  • Penn State is facing Dartmouth for the first time in the program's history.
  • Against ECAC opponents, Penn State tallies a record of 18-40-9 all-time. 

JANECKE FACEOFF LEADER

  • Forward Tessa Janecke has the second highest amount of faceoff wins in the country with 232.
  • Janecke is one of ten underclassmen to be featured in the top 50.

VASLET ON THE ATTACK

  • Junior forward Mya Vaslet has scored at least one goal in three of the last five games for the Nittany Lions.
  • She currently leads the team in goals with five on the year and sits tied for second on the team in points with seven.
  • Vaslet scored the opening goal in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Mercyhurst and recorded her first career hat-trick on Nov. 4 at Lindenwood. 

POWER-PLAY ON POINT

  •  In the Nittany Lions last four games, Penn State has capitalized on four power-play goals.
  • Two came at Mercyhurst this past weekend in game two of the series which aided in their 3-1 victory.
  • The Nittany Lions also scored two power-play goals in Penn State's 4-2 victory over Lindenwood on Nov. 3. 
  • Penn State in total has scored six power-play goals with Lyndie Lobdell leading the team with two on the year.

RETRUM SECURES ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

  • Forward Stella Retrum was named College Hockey America's Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. This is Retrum's second Rookie of the Week honor this season.
  • The Maple Grove, Minn. native recorded two points in the series at Mercyhurst scoring a power-play goal and tallying an assist in game two of the series.
  • Retrum's goal was the Nittany Lion's final goal of the game which secured the 3-1 win and the series split.
  • This was Retrum's third multi-point game in the last five games she's played this season.
  • On the season, Retrum has a total of three goals and three assists for a total of six points.
