UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 15 Penn State women's ice hockey team dropped the second game of the series against No. 13/13 Yale 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yale opened the scoring 8:46 into the first period with a power-play goal from Carina DiAntonio.
- Yale center Elle Hartjie put the second goal on the board 10:09 into the second period with an assist by Emma DeCorby.
- Penn State answered 4:25 into the third period with an even strength goal by Brianna Brooks.
- Yale center Jordan Ray scored the final goal of the contest on an empty net assisted by Elle Hartjie with just 26 seconds to play in the third period.
GOALTENDERS
- Josie Bothun was in the net for the Nittany Lions and made 45 saves and allowed just two goals.
- Bothun is now 9-8-1 on the season.
STATS AND NOTES
- Brianna Brooks recorded her fifth goal of the season.
- Tessa Janecke continued her strong faceoff performance going 17-27.
- Penn State put up 24 shots to Yale's 47.
- Penn State held its annual THON game in support of those affected by pediatric cancer.
