BOSTON - Penn State women's ice hockey sophomore forward Tessa Janecke and freshman forward Stella Retrum each claimed CHA monthly awards on Tuesday afternoon.
Janecke picked up her third straight CHA Forward of the Month honor after totaling 16 points off five goals and 11 assists. She also recorded 106 faceoff wins out of 161 attempts in the month of January for a .658 faceoff win percentage.
She tallied a hat-trick in the series against Lindenwood which was part of a six-point day following three goals and three assists which also earned her CHA Forward of the Week honors. On the year Janecke currently sits tied for fifth in the nation in points with 43 off 13 goals and 30 assists.
Retrum secured her second CHA Rookie of the Month award this season following an impressive January consisting of five goals and two assists for seven points. In the span of the month, she recorded three multi-point games including a two-goal showing against RIT on Jan. 12. On the year, Retrum sits second on the team in goals with 11 and fourth on the team in points with 21.
