Fencing Concludes Regular Season at Temple Invitational

 
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's and women's fencing teams traveled to Philadelphia to wrap up regular season play at the Temple Invitational. The Nittany Lions faced fencers from Johns Hopkins, Penn, Princeton, Stevens Tech, St. Johns and Temple. 
 
The men's team started strong by topping Johns Hopkins 17-10 (5-4 sabre, 5-4 foil, 7-2 epee). They also beat Penn 16-11 (6-3 sabre, 4-5 foil, 6-3 epee), Stevens Tech 21-6 (7-2 sabre, 8-1 foil, 6-3 epee), and St. Johns 17-10 (8-1 sabre, 5-4 foil, 4-5 epee), only falling short to Princeton 16-11 (6-3 sabre, 4-5 foil, 6-3 epee).
 
The women's team narrowly beat Johns Hopkins and Temple 14-13 and then went on to beat St. John's 19-8 (6-3 sabre, 6-3 foil, 7-2 epee). They lost to both Princeton and Penn by scores of 15-12. 
 
The top performers from the Temple Invitational were Kamar Skeete (12-0 in sabre), Aidan Johnson (9-1 in foil) and Kateryna Chorniy (12-2 in epee).
 
Next, qualifying members of the Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals being held at Drew University on March 3, 2024.
