BOSTON - Penn State women's ice hockey sophomore goaltender Katie DeSa was named the College Hockey America Goaltender of the Month on Wednesday as announced by the league.
This is DeSa's first CHA monthly award honor after she racked up 169 saves with a GAA of 1.83 and save percentage of .918. During the month of February, DeSa recorded two shutout victories and a record of 5-1-2.
One of the two shutouts came in Penn State's 4-0 victory over RIT in the CHA tournament semifinal game which propelled the Nittany Lions to their second straight CHA championship game. DeSa was named CHA Goaltender of the Week for her dominate play in the semifinal round.
On the season, DeSa tallies a record of 8-2-2 with three shutout wins, a GAA of 1.55 and save percentage of .955 in 12 games started and played.
The Nittany Lions return to action on Saturday, March 2 when they host Mercyhurst in the CHA championship game. Puck-drop is set for 2 p.m.
