COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 7/5 Penn State men's lacrosse team opened Big Ten play with a 12-9 come from behind victory over Ohio State on Saturday afternoon. The win marks their seventh straight of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Mac Costin started the scoring with a goal with 6:13 left in the first quarter, Ohio State would score three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead after one quarter.
- The Buckeyes then tallied three more unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead with 8:23 left in the half.
- Penn State's offense then woke up firing three unanswered goals off the sticks of Luke Mercer, TJ Malone, and Luke Walstrum to cut the Ohio State lead to 6-4.
- Ohio State closed the half with a goal from Blake Eiland to take a 7-4 lead at halftime.
- The Nittany Lions came out firing in the second half scoring all three goals in the third goals coming off the sticks of Mac Costin, TJ Malone, and two by Matt Traynor to tie the game up at 7-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
- TJ Malone began the scoring in fourth quarter with a goal with 13:39 left which began to give the Nittany Lions an 8-7 lead.
- Ohio State came back to even the score at 8-8 with 6:31 left in the quarter off a goal by Ed Shean.
- Penn State would score four unanswered goals off the sticks of Jake Morin, Mac Costin, Grant Haus, and Matt Traynor to put the Nittany Lions ahead 12-8 with 1:57 left in the quarter.
- Ohio State scored the final goal of the game with 1:44 left in the game off the stick of Matt Caputo to result in the 12-9 Penn State victory.

- Junior goalie Jack Fracyon captured his seventh straight win of the season while recording eight saves.
