2024 Rutherford Intercollegiate Final Results
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Penn State men's golf team shot a stellar six-under in the final round to turn a slim two-stroke lead into a 10-stroke victory as the Nittany Lions claimed their ninth-straight Rutherford Intercollegiate Championship Sunday at the Penn State Blue Course.
Penn State wins the Rutherford crown for the ninth-straight year and collects its 31st overall Rutherford Intercollegiate team title in the 47-year history of the event.
The Nittany Lions led second-place UConn by two strokes entering Sunday's final round, but shot a 6-under, 278, in Sunday's final round compared to UConn's 2-over, 286, as Penn State finished atop the leaderboard at 6-over, 858. Three Nittany Lions finished in the top 10, with five placing the top 20.
Patrick Sheehan led the way for the Nittany Lions as he fired a 3-under, 68, in the final round to finish tied for second at 2-under, 211. It marks Sheehan's highest finish of the 2023-24 season and third top-10 placement of the year.
Jake Griffin collected his first top-five finish of the season and third top-10 placement as he shot a 1-under, 70, in the final round to finish fourth at an even 213.
Jimmy Meyers marked the third Nittany Lion in the top 10 as he shot a 2-over, 73, Sunday and finished tied for eighth at 4-over, 217. It marks Meyers' third top-10 finish of the 2023-24 season.
Billy Pabst Jr. carded an even 71 in the final round to finish tied for 18th at 8-over, 221.
Morgan Lofland fired a 2-under, 69, Sunday to move up 22 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for 35th at 11-over, 224.
James Allen led Penn State's group of four individuals as Allen finished tied for 18th at 8-over, 221. Jud Langille finished tied for 44th at 14-over, 227. Zach Smith placed tied for 48th at 16-over, 229. Robby O'Regan carded an even 71 Sunday to move up 17 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for 52nd at 17-over, 230.
The Nittany Lions now turn their attention to the Big Ten Championship from Friday, April 26, to Sunday, April 28, at Scioto Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio.
