Nittany Lions Finish Sixth in Inaugural Canadian Collegiate Invitational

Canadian Collegiate Invitational Final Results

FOOTS BAY, Ontario – Top-15 finishes from Morgan Lofland and Alex Creamean highlighted a strong showing by the Penn State men’s golf team as the inaugural Canadian Collegiate Invitational wrapped up at Öviinbyrd Golf Club Tuesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions finished sixth in the 10-team field, shooting an even 864 in the 54-hole event. Penn State shot a 2-over, 290, in the opening round and a 1-over, 289, in the second round before closing strong with a 3-under, 285, in the third and final round.

Morgan Lofland was Penn State’s top finisher, coming in at 4-under, 212, to place 13th. He opened strong with a 4-under, 68, in the first round before shooting a 71 and 73 in the second and third rounds, respectively.

Alex Creamean followed right behind in a tie for 14th place at 2-under, 214. After shooting a pair of even 72s in the first and second rounds, Creamean moved up seven spots in the final round thanks to a 2-under, 70.

Jake Griffin finished tied for 23rd at 1-over, 217 (72-76-69), shooting up nine spots in his strong final round. Andres Barrazza, making his debut in the Blue & White, placed 36th at 9-over, 225 (78-74-73), while Will Preston finished tied for 41st at 14-over, 230 (80-72-78).

Ontario native Zach Smith played as an individual and finished in a tie for 27th at 3-over, 219 (72-74-73).

The Nittany Lions return to action on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational hosted by West Virginia at Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pa.
