ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men’s soccer Malick Daouda has been named the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Daouda helped the Nittany Lions snap their three-match losing streak in dramatic fashion on Friday evening. Daouda scored the match winning goal and his first goal as a Nittany Lion in the final four minutes against Michigan State when he pushed past the Spartans back line to knock in captain Matthew Henderson's free kick. Penn State defeated Michigan State, 2-1.
The Montreal, Canada native has started seven matches for the Nittany Lions. Daouda has collected three shots, two of which were on goal this season.
The midfielder is the first Nittany Lion this season to earn a weekly award honor.
