Visit Knoxville Collegiate Final Results
LOUDON, Tenn. – The Penn State men’s golf team completed the three-day, fall-opening Visit Knoxville Collegiate Sunday afternoon at the Tennessee National Golf Club.
The Nittany Lions finished 15th in the 16-team field, coming in at 43-over, 883, at the conclusion of the 54-hole event.
Jake Griffin led the way for Penn State, placing 40th at 5-over, 215. He shot an even-70 in the opening round, followed by a 73 Saturday and a 72 in Sunday’s final round.
Zach Smith followed in 63rd place at 10-over, 220. He shot up 11 spots on the leaderboard in Sunday’s final round thanks to a 1-over, 71, that followed a 74 and 75 in the first two rounds, respectively.
Alex Creamean made his debut in the Blue & White and finished in 70th place at 13-over, 223 (72-73-78). Freshman Will Preston placed 75th at 15-over, 225 (73-74-78) in his first collegiate event, while Jud Langille finished 91st at 25-over, 235 (76-81-78).
The Nittany Lions return to action next week when Penn State co-hosts the inaugural Canadian Intercollegiate on Sept. 16-17 at Oviinbyrd Golf Club in MacTier, Ontario, Canada. The tournament will be conducted by Golf Canada and co-hosted by Penn State and Kent State who are both led by Canadian head coaches in Penn State’s Mark Leon and Kent State's Jon Mills. The tournament will feature NCAA Division I men's golf teams with prominent Canadian ties along with the team champions of the 2024 Canadian University/College Championship. The inaugural event marks the first time that an NCAA Division I men's golf tournament will be played in Canada.
